Dr Samuel Lim
Dr Samuel Lim is a consultant psychiatrist with a special interest in community psychiatry and psychotherapy. He specialises in the treatment of mood and anxiety disorders, relational difficulties and personality disorders. He has extensive experience in the management and treatment of mental health disorders in a variety of populations. He has also had significant experience in fitness for work and total and permanent disability assessments. He is an accredited Medical Assessor of Permanent Impairment for the NSW State Insurance Regulatory Authority.
Dr Lim completed his undergraduate degrees in psychology at University College London (UK) and in medicine at King’s College London (UK). He then trained in psychiatry at The Maudsley Hospital in London. During this time, he also held an Academic Fellowship with the Centre for Neurodegenerative Disease and was involved in research in psychosis and dementia. Following his relocation to Australia, Dr Lim initially worked at the Royal North Shore Hospital where he developed the curriculum for the mental health component of the probationary constable orientation program. He has also worked at the Long Bay Forensic Hospital. He also currently holds a part-time appointment as a staff specialist psychiatrist with the South East Sydney Local Health District.
Dr Lim is a Fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrist and a member of the Faculty of Psychotherapy. He offers general psychiatric care as well as medico-legal (civil) and independent medical assessments. He also provides psychotherapeutic treatment.
